There are private shuttle services available as well from the Cancun International Airport. Booking in advance is the best option to make sure you're guaranteed transportation. These will take you to the ferry terminal and you'll still need to take a ferry to Cozumel.

In October 2018 was conducted a study for building a new (4th) cruise terminal on Cozumel Island to cope with the constantly increasing passenger shipping traffic. According to Quintana Roo state's statistics, in 2018 the island was visited by over 3,1 million cruise ship tourists (passengers and crew). Continue to experience the charm of Mexico by cruising to Progreso, which is also located on the Yucatan peninsula, or Veracruz, which is further up the coast.

There are two ferry companies running the Calica (Playa del Carmen)-Cozumel ferries. The International Cruise Terminal also has a plethora of shops and eateries directly in the port. Across the road (Quintana Roo C-1), the Royal Village Shopping Center offers even more options for both shopping and dining amongst other independent venues. Opposite from this area is the Mayan Plaza where visitors can shop, eat and even take souvenir photos at the Insta-worthy "Cozumel" sign.
